Game Day Recipes with The Hamlet

The Main Event

Star Sides

Every watch party needs delicious sides to go along with the main bites; check out our list of delicious sides you can make from scratch or find at your local grocery store.  

  • Pasta Salad

Ingredients:

3 cups cooked rotini or elbow macaroni, cooled

1½ cups diced Hamlet ham

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup diced celery

½ cup frozen peas (thawed)

½ cup diced red bell pepper (optional)

¾ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp Dijon mustard or ranch dressing

Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:


1. In a large bowl, combine pasta, ham, cheddar, veggies.

2. Mix mayo and mustard (or ranch) in a small bowl; season to taste.

3. Pour dressing over the salad and stir to coat.

4. Chill for at least 1 hour. Stir again before serving.
  • Coleslaw

Ingredients:

1 bag coleslaw mix (or shred ½ cabbage + 1 carrot)

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp sugar or honey

½ tsp celery seed (optional)

Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Whisk mayo, vinegar, sugar, and seasoning in a large bowl.

2. Toss in coleslaw mix. Stir well to coat.

3. Chill for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  • Potato Salad

Ingredients:

2½ lbs Yukon gold or red potatoes, boiled and diced

½ cup diced Hamlet ham (optional)

3 hard-boiled eggs, chopped

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp yellow mustard

¼ cup chopped dill pickles or relish

½ cup celery, diced

Salt, pepper, and paprika to taste

Instructions:

1. Boil potatoes until fork-tender, then cool and dice.

2. In a large bowl, mix potatoes, eggs, ham (if using), pickles, celery.

3. Stir in mayo, mustard, salt, and pepper. Top with paprika.

4. Chill for a few hours before serving.
  • Ham & Cheese Dip

Ingredients:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1½ cups chopped Hamlet ham

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup sour cream

2 green onions, chopped

Optional: pinch of cayenne or 1 tbsp chopped jalapeños

Instructions:


1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and transfer to a small baking dish.

3. Bake for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

4. Serve warm with crackers, pretzels, or toasted baguette slices.
  • Cornbread Bites

Ingredients:

1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix

1 egg

⅓ cup milk

½ cup shredded cheddar

Optional: 1 tbsp diced green onion

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a mini muffin tin.

Mix Jiffy, egg, and milk until combined.

Fold in ham, cheese, and onion.

Spoon into mini muffin wells (about ¾ full).

Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and set.
  • Chips & Queso

Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter or oil

½ cup diced onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes with green chiles (e.g. Ro*Tel), undrained

1 cup whole milk or half-and-half

1 lb (16 oz) Velveeta, cubed (or substitute with 2 cups shredded cheddar + 1 tbsp cornstarch)

Optional: 1 minced jalapeño for heat

Optional toppings: green onions, salsa, cilantro

Instructions:

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

2. Sauté onion (and jalapeño if using) until soft, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.

3. Add canned tomatoes and milk; bring to a gentle simmer.

4. Stir in cubed cheese and reduce heat to low. Stir until fully melted and smooth.

5. Serve warm with tortilla chips, pretzels, or veggies. Keep warm in a slow cooker if needed.

Optional add-ins: Browned ground beef, chorizo, black beans, or chopped Hamlet ham for a meatier version.
